Gameloft will be hoping it's a different story with the recently-released Modern Combat Versus, which is the latest entry in the FPS series that began life as the studio's answer to Call of Duty. The apparent strategy has been to focus on the power of its existing franchises, with new entries in the Gangstar, NOVA and Asphalt series all launching in 2017 so far.īut none of these games have gained much traction. Since the takeover by Vivendi that promised “a great collective adventure” back in June 2016, Gameloft has launched a number of new titles. This time we're taking a look at Modern Combat Versus, the latest in Gameloft's long-running first-person shooter series. The end goal is to see whether the game makes a good enough case for us to part with our cash, or whether players are content - or engaged enough - to 'freeload'. In each instalment, we consider the incentives or pressure applied to make in-app purchases, their perceived value, the expansion offered by IAPs and the overall value of the experience.
